Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Moyes College of Education is dedicated to developing and maintaining healthy, responsible individuals, families, and schools in a global and diverse society. In addition to supporting the MCOEs academic mission, the Dean will lead enrollment and retention efforts of the college. As a member of the university leadership team, the Dean will work collaboratively with the Office of Academic Affairs and other academic colleges. The Dean will also be expected to work closely with the Office of Advancement in fundraising efforts and will play a key role in relationship development with alumni and external partners.


Required Qualifications:
Weber State University seeks a Dean who minimally has:
  • A Ph.D./Ed.D. related to one of the colleges major disciplines (see: https://www.weber.edu/COE/) from an accredited institution,
  • Been awarded tenure and holds rank as a full professor, and
  • 3 years of academic administration experience including budget and personnel management.


Preferred Qualifications:
Additionally, WSU prefers a Dean who has:
  • Commitment to high-quality, innovative teaching to support traditional classroom, online, hybrid, and evening teaching modalities in general education, undergraduate, and graduate courses at various satellite campus centers and sites,
  • Demonstrated academic leadership with organizational management skills, professional stability, and respect for policies,
  • Vision and planning ability including a strong desire to support the university-wide collaborative focus on student recruitment, retention, and timely graduation,
  • Strong oral and written communication skills,
  • Skills to advance excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service including community engagement,
  • Experience with and commitment to leading successful donor cultivation and development efforts,
  • The ability to foster a supportive and globally sensitive environment where all faculty, staff, and students are successful,
  • Demonstrated experience in acquiring and allocating resources, including faculty and staff positions, managing large complex budgets and overseeing multiple facilities, and
  • Demonstrated support for forward-thinking educational skills including passion, curiosity, imagination, critical thinking, and persistence.
