Job Summary:
The Division of Academic Affairs is seeking an Academic Affairs Initiatives Lead. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month professional faculty position.
The Division of Academic Affairs (DAA) is committed to advancing and supporting rigorous, transformative education that is accessible to all learners. We do this by supporting high quality undergraduate and graduate programs onsite, online, and in hybrid format; assisting in the design of diverse, well-supported, and affordable pathways to an OSU degree; creating opportunities for student research and experiential learning; and supporting excellence in teaching through evidence-based best practices. These activities are critical underpinnings of student success and to Prosperity Widely Shared, the Oregon State Plan. Led by the Senior Vice Provost (SVP) for Academic Affairs, the DAAs leadership team includes the Associate Vice Provost (AVP) for Academic Affairs, AVP and University Registrar, AVP for Teaching and Learning, Dean of Libraries, Dean of Graduate Education, and AVP of Arts and Humanities. The Senior Vice Provost also assists the Office of the Provost with strategic planning, statewide engagement, and other functions.

The Academic Affairs Initiatives Lead (AAIL) works with the Senior Vice Provost and their leadership team and will be responsible for Academic Unit Assessment and data analytics, faculty development, Academic Affairs project management and communications, and other special projects as assigned. Given the wide range of units and initiatives within DAA, the work of this position is varied and complex. Often serving in a leadership role, the AAIL will contribute to projects and collaborate with key stakeholders. This position necessitates sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Unit Assessment and Data Analytics - 40% Lead the Academic Unit Assessment (AUA) process for the SVP, acting as project manager. Gather and analyze data on academic units, identify gaps, and prepare reports for academic unit leaders and the SVP. Serve as liaison throughout the AUA process and between the Academic Analytics tool and OSU senior leaders and faculty. Lead the Academic Analytics Advisory Committee and act as the functional owner of the tool. Develop use cases, support faculty, and produce metrics for biennial AUA. Collaborate with the SVP to refine the AUA process.
Project Management and Communications - 40%
Provide support, prioritization, and management for projects and initiatives assigned by the Provost or SVP within Academic Affairs. Prepare communications and presentations for the SVP for internal and external contexts, such as the annual faculty briefings for the OSU Board of Trustees. Serve as project manager or liaison for various initiatives, such as collaborating with University Information and Technology on data-driven projects, developing the universitys roadmap to AAU status, serving as OSU liaison to the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC), and supporting the SVPs role on Oregons Transfer Council
Faculty Development - 20%
Design, update, and coordinate faculty development and recognition programming as part of an annual workplan including, but not limited to, Faculty Awards and Recognition Strategy, New Academic Faculty Academy, Public Voices Fellowships, etc. Programming includes annual/ongoing elements as well as one-time programs or pilot programs. Lead the Faculty Development Working Group, a committee charged by the SVP with creating efficiencies and partnerships in faculty development offerings across units. Programming related to faculty development is closely coordinated with the AVP for Teaching and Learning and in collaboration with the SVP, Chief Assistant to the Provost, and Senior Academic Affairs Associate.
What You Will Need
- Masters degree in any field.
- Three years of experience leading, managing, and advancing complex projects and initiatives with deliverables.
- Demonstrated understanding of the academic faculty role in higher education.
- Experience independently researching and compiling information for decision makers, including producing written reports for executive leaders.
- Experience interpreting, analyzing, and presenting quantitative information, understanding gaps, trends, and bias, as well as making high level, consequential conclusions from data.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders and to build strong rapport with internal and external partners including colleagues across the state.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including writing skills.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience collaborating with academic leaders and administrators in higher education.
- Experience serving in an academic faculty role in higher education.
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility; ability to work independently in an environment where ambiguity and the need to pivot quickly are common.
- Experience leading academic faculty development, faculty career enhancement initiatives, and/or faculty onboarding.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Normal office working conditions with some travel required as necessary. Work will take place primarily on the Corvallis campus with some travel to Bend, Newport, and other OSU locations.
